Fall Candles

October 9, 2017

Last month, I went a little bit crazy with the fall candles coming out at Bath and Body Works and my wallet paid the price for it. In my defense, there was a really good sale. I am not even complaining about the purchase because I love the candles so much. That being said, I have been burning all of the candles trying to figure out which ones I like and which ones I will never burn again.

Life is Sweet Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow.
Let’s start off with discussing the presentation of this candle because that was a major component to why I bought it. It has the cutest design with the pumpkins around the title and it just screams October, which is my favorite month. Bath and Body Works describes this smell as pumpkin spice mixed with caramel and vanilla cream. There is a pumpkin scent to this candle but it is not very dominating. Instead, the dominating smell is vanilla cream. If you are a fan of vanilla candles, then you will love this candle. There is also is not much of a spice smell, it is there but it is very subtle.

Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin.
Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin has been my favorite fall scented candle for the past two years. This is the ultimate pumpkin spice scent. I love the cinnamon part because it gives the flavor of a pumpkin spice latte without having the spice scent burning your nose. This scent is pure pumpkin and, if I must say, the perfect pumpkin scent. It is a very cozy scent, and it reminds me of a fire burning while drinking Starbucks pumpkin spice lattes.

Marshmallow Fireside.
When I used Scentsy, I used to mix vanilla wax and fireside scented wax together and it was my all-time favorite scent. This candle smells exactly like that mixture. It has a harsh wood burning smell to it but it also has a very cozy vanilla fluff smell. It mixes rough and sweet together. It reminds me of camping which triggers some great memories from my childhood. But most importantly, it makes me want to get cozy on the couch with a blanket and coffee.

Hello Sunshine.
This was one of the two candles I bought that still had a summer vibe to it. The main reason I bought this candle was, once again, for this packaging. I absolutely adore this candle container so much that I wouldn’t even mind if I hated the candle, but I don’t. This candle has a very soft smell to it and it combines a floral scent with lemon. If sunshine had a smell, it would be this candle. It is such a fresh and clean smell but it still doesn’t smell like it should remain in the bathroom.

Incense.
My mother used to burn incense all the time when I was younger so this candle smells exactly like my childhood. I was nervous to buy this candle because I was afraid that it wouldn’t smell like actual incense but this candle is true to its name. If you have ever smelled incense, then you know exactly what to expect. This candle is one of those scents that either you love it or you hate it, there is no in between. But if you love incense, then you will love this candle.

Mahogany Teakwood High Intensity.
I have three of the normal Mahogany Teakwood candles in my closet but that did not stop me from buying this one in the high intensity version. I love this candle, it has always been a favorite of mine from the beginning. This scent is the best cologne scent I have ever smelled. I have always been a huge fan of cologne scents and this one is my ultimate favorite. The high intensity does its job, and you are able to smell this candle through my entire apartment.

Leaves.
I know that this candle is known as the basic fall candle ever but that does not stop me from purchasing it. I am not about to deprive myself from one of the best smelling candles ever. This candle is the definition of fall air. There is something about the leaves changing and the breeze coming in that makes fall the best season ever.

Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla.
Bath and Body Works is killing the game this season with their packaging on their candles. This marble pattern is beautiful and the candle smells amazing, as well! If you want a scent with a lot of spices but still gives off a cozy vibe, then this is the perfect candle for you. I would almost classify this as a winter candle but the spices remind me of cider and that draws me back to October.

Bow Ties and Bourbon.
When I first read this title I instantly thought that this was the perfect description for Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl. This smells like summer air and cologne. I mentioned previously that I am obsessed with the scent of cologne and this is a great candle for that. This is a hit or miss fragrance meaning you like it or you don’t. It is a strong scent so there is no escaping it. But if you are a big fan of cologne scents, then you will absolutely love this.

Always a Fall Favorite Hot Cocoa and Cream.
This is the candle I was most excited to receive from my purchase. I love the smell of chocolate and I used to own a lot of chocolate candles when I was younger and for some reason I would always burn them when I was doing homework or studying for tests. Ever since then, if I get super stressed out while studying for finals, or when I am working on a project, I would drink hot chocolate and it would always calm me down. This candle brings me back to those calming emotions. When you first smell the candle, it smells just like hot chocolate but when you go to smell it for a second time, you don’t really smell anything. When you light the candle, you can smell it but it is not a strong scent. I do think this helps though because if it was a strong scent, then it would smell overly sweet.

Tea and Lemon.
This is one of the other last-minute summer candles I picked up. It smells just like the sunshine candle, but stronger. It has that clean and citrus scent but it does not smell like cleaning supplies. For me, it reminds me of the beach and drinking a lemonade while laying out in the sand. I think not only is this a nice candle but it is a great transitioning candle from summer to fall if you like to match your scents with your seasons. But it is also great for any time during the year.

Those were all the candles I picked up for the fall time. I do believe the most used out of the bunch with be the Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin and the Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow. I was surprised that I ended up liking every single candle that I purchased. For not being able to smell them before I purchased them, I believe this online shopping trip can be called a success.
